Inclusion and Special Educational Needs
The Inclusion Team at Lecale Trinity Grammar School is led by the Learning Support Co-ordinator. In turn they lead the whole staff in supporting students who have, or may develop, Special Educational Needs.
Our main aim is to ensure that all students have the opportunity to develop their unique talents and to reach their full potential. We therefore adapt our curriculum and create bespoke timetables for those who require intervention.
Comprehensive literacy and numeracy programmes are implemented throughout KS3 and we have an appropriate programme to support for those with English as an Additional Language.
We aim to create an environment which is both sympathetic and supportive to those pupils who exhibit behavioural and learning difficulties and provide Personalised Learning Plans to ensure that every effort is being made for learning to be optimised.
We have a highly trained team of Classroom Assistants who support the holisitic development of our students both in and beyond the classroom.
Learning Support Provision
At Lecale Trinity Grammar School, we are proud to offer three specialised Learning Support Classes that cater to students from Years 8 through to 12. Our programme is rooted in the belief that every student possesses unique talents and deserves to learn in an inclusive and nurturing environment. It is our goal to provide a safe and supportive space where students with special educational needs can reach their full potential and thrive in all aspects of their lives—socially, emotionally, spiritually, and academically.
Inclusivity is central to our philosophy at Lecale Trinity. Our team of dedicated and highly trained professionals works diligently to ensure that every student is supported, encouraged, and included in all facets of school life. Recognising that each child is unique, we tailor our approach to meet their specific needs, ensuring personalised and effective support.
Our Learning Support Provision includes three classes: two in Key Stage 3 and one in Key Stage 4. These classes focus on smooth transitions into new key stages and preparing students for adulthood and further education or training.
Our curriculum is informed by a wide range of data to ensure it meets the needs of each student. In Key Stage 4, a bespoke timetable is created for each student to equip them with the necessary qualifications and skills for their future endeavours. Depending on their abilities, students may integrate into mainstream GCSE subjects and have the opportunity to study both academic and vocational subjects. Work experience is also offered as part of the Key Stage 4 timetable for those interested in exploring career options. We place great emphasis on collaboration with parents, guardians, teachers, and external providers to create a seamless support system that enhances each student's learning journey. Additionally, our pastoral support services, including counselling and mentoring, help students develop resilience, self-confidence, and positive relationships, fostering a happy and successful learning environment.
