Welcome to Lecale Trinity Grammar School
As Principal of Lecale Trinity Grammar School, it is with immense pride that I extend a very warm welcome to you, our prospective pupils and families, as you visit our school website.
Lecale Trinity Grammar School is a new co-educational, all ability voluntary grammar school in Downpatrick. This year marks our inaugural year, with the school opening its doors and classrooms to pupils in September 2024.
The school is an amalgamation of two Lasallian schools, De La Salle High School and St Patrick’s Grammar School, and a school from the Mercy tradition, St Mary’s High School. Lecale Trinity Grammar School is a Lasallian Catholic school, in the trusteeship of the De La Salle Congregation.
It has been my privilege to work with the school community in reflecting on the noble traditions of each school, and in defining and agreeing the core purpose and vision of Lecale Trinity Grammar School as an outstanding school for pupils of all abilities in Downpatrick. Collectively we have agreed our Mission Statement:
Our mission is to nurture every pupil in an inclusive community, rich in faith and kindness, working together with integrity, empowering all to achieve through excellence in educational provision.
Our school motto ‘Omni Puero Fides’ translated as ‘Faith in Every Child’, encapsulates the core value and purpose of Lecale Trinity Grammar School, a school that is committed to the pursuit of educational excellence for all.
Pastoral Care in Lecale Trinity Grammar School is centred on faith in the uniqueness of each and every child. We will aim to create a safe and caring environment where each pupil is valued, challenged and supported to achieve their full potential. We will strive tirelessly to nurture the gifts of all our young people in a community that is passionate about excellence within educational provision, that strives for social justice and for inclusion and equality of opportunity and is committed to compassionate pastoral care.
We recognise the importance of providing our young people with leadership opportunities, and in Lecale Trinity Grammar School you will find a vibrant model of student leadership that actively promotes the pupil voice, ensuring that the pupil is always central to the decision-making process.
We will ensure each pupil is encouraged, supported and challenged to fulfil their potential through innovative learning experiences and a progressive and comprehensive curriculum. The curriculum offered in Lecale Trinity Grammar School is vibrant and relevant to the changing needs of the twenty-first century. To this end, our staff have comprehensively and intentionally planned for pastoral and academic success and for the wellbeing of all our pupils.
We also believe that learning takes places both inside and outside of the classroom. In Lecale Trinity Grammar School, pupils are provided with opportunities to develop their knowledge and skills through the wide range of extra-curricular activities that are offered to them.
We also recognise that the transition from primary to post-primary education is a crucial period for both children and for their parents. We aim to make this journey one that is both exciting and as seamless as possible through building on the valuable links that have been established with our partner primary schools. It is our privilege to work with these schools, and for the young people of this community.
